Cornhusker Power's Rates Among the Lowest in the Country
Cornhusker Public Power District rates are among the lowest in the country according to a report, Key Ratio Trend Analysis, which compares financial information from 818 rural electric utilities throughout the United States. Only 65 systems out of the 818 have lower rates.
Cornhusker’s average rate is 6.31¢/kWh compared to the national median of 8.68¢/kWh. Cornhusker is in the lowest 9% of the country compared to 818 other non-profit rural electrics. The National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation, CFC, compiles this report annually.
In the State of Nebraska, Cornhusker Power ranks 27th lowest out of 30 or in the lowest 10% in the state. The state’s median cost of power is 7.57¢/kWh. Cornhusker's average rate is 6.31¢/kWh. Cornhusker’s rates are 16.6% below the state average and 27.3% below the national average.
General Manager Ron Hostetter said, “I am very proud of the stability of Cornhusker Power’s rates. Rates at Cornhusker are consistently below the national and state average for non-profit rural electrics. Our employees work hard at keeping expenses low. They treat Cornhusker’s money like their own.”
