Cornhusker Power Customer Give $5,246.50 to Help Their Communities
Cornhusker Power Goodwill Fund trustees awarded $5,246.50 to 26 organizations at the May meeting.
Cornhusker Power General Manager Ron Hostetter said, “Since the program’s inception in 1999, $175,779.50 has been distributed to many worthwhile projects. We encourage customers to round up their electric bill to help their community.”
In Albion, Boon-Nance County Extension received $200 for a Xavix system and Good Samaritan Society received $200 for a blanket warmer.
In Bartlett, Wheeler Central Booster Club received $50 for post prom prizes.
In Cedar Rapids, the Cedar Rapids Library received $200 for shelves, Cedar Rapids Rescue Squad received $300 for a computer desk and chair and Cedar Rapids Senior Center received $200 for a warming table.
In Columbus, the Rescue Mission received $200 for computer software, Pawnee Visually Impaired received $200 for a file cabinet, Platte County Historical Society Museum received $200 for computer software and St. Luke’s Preschool received $171.50 for a complete set of science instant learning centers.
In Fullerton, Nance County 4-H received $200 for three new tables.
In Genoa, Genoa Medical Facilities received $300 for laundry carts and Genoa Volunteer Fire Department received $300 for two 1,500-watt twin light tripods.
Howells Post Prom received $50 for prizes.
In Humphrey, The Humphrey Community Foundation received $200 for new windows, Humphrey Community Club received $100 for fireworks and Humphrey St. Francis School received $300 for a laptop computer.
In Leigh, Leigh Public Library received $200 for shelving and Colfax County Ag Society received $200 for an air conditioner.
In Lindsay, Holy Family Elementary School received $275 for science, social studies and math learning centers and Holy Family High School received $300 for and AV cart.
In Newman Grove, Newman Grove Emergency Management received $200 for high band radios for storm spotters and Newman Grove Senior Center received $200 to repair a roof.
In Schuyler, Colfax County Senior Center received $200 for a new carpet, Schuyler Volunteer Fire Department received $250 for fire prevention material for schools and Boy Scout Troop 211 received $50 toward a laptop computer.
