Cornhusker Power to Offer Touchstone Products
Cornhusker Public Power District will join 665 non-profit rural electric utilities nationally and 10 other Nebraska rural electrics to offer Touchstone energy products. By participating with other non-profit rural electrics nationally, Cornhusker will be able to offer important programs for very little cost.
Touchstone was formed in 1998 to give the rural electric network a national brand. Touchstone has expanded over the years to offer important products. Because of aggregation, they can develop programs at a low cost that all members can use.
With rising energy cost, Cornhusker is receiving many questions from customers on how to lower their energy usage and conserve on power. By partnering with Touchstone Energy, Cornhusker will be able to offer excellent new products on conservation. Cornhusker serves many low-income families. The Touchstone products will be extremely important in helping these customers conserve energy, which will keep their power bills affordable.
The Cornhusker-power.com website will have a direct link to Touchstone Energy. Topics on the website will include:
- Energy saving calculations using Cornhusker’s actual rates
- Home energy savings guides
- Fun House Tour with energy saving tips
- Water heater applications
- A heating and air conditioning saving section
- Renewable energy section
- Whole house energy audit
- Kid site that emphasizes safety and conservation
Brochures covering the same information on the website will be provided by Touchstone.
Touchstone will also provide a middle school Discovery Channel Electricity Education Kit for area schools in our six-county service area. The curriculum is nationally accredited and will be a good tool for teaching youth about electricity conservation and safety.
Because of Touchstone, Cornhusker will be included in a national survey comparing Cornhusker Power to other utilities in the state and nation. This will be an important tool for the Cornhusker board and management to evaluate the District’s performance.
Watch for the new Touchstone logo next to the Cornhusker Public Power District logo.
