Surge Protection

When it comes to protecting your home from destructive power surges, we have you covered -- from top to bottom!

No one - not even your electric provider - can control all the circumstances that can cause power surges to threaten your home. All it takes is one destructive power surge to realize how expensive it is to replace your appliances and sensitive electronic equipment! Surges can enter your home through your electric meter, telephone lines and TV lines. Lightning can cause these surges, accidents involving utility poles, operation of power equipment, or improper grounding. Sycom surge suppression devices provide protection for your major appliances and today's sensitive electronic equipment.

This around-the-clock service is available for a one-time fee of $50 for the basic surge intercept equipment, grounding inspection and installation, plus a small monthly fee of $4.95 for ongoing service. All conveniently included in your utility bill.

  • Your first line of defense: Between your outside meter and your home.
  • The second line of defense: Inside your home.
  • Is your home properly grounded? We'll make sure.

Your first line of defense: Between your outside meter and your home.
Surges that enter through the main power supply to your home don't just affect sensitive electronics. They can damage household appliances such as your refrigerator, oven, washer and dryer, furnace, water heater and air conditioner. That's why Sycom Surge Diverter comes with a specially designed device that fits between your electric meter and your home - providing around-the-clock protection against high-voltage spikes before they can get in.

The second line of defense: Inside your home.
Take a look around your home. Televisions connected to cable or a satellite dish. A microwave oven. Stereo. Phones and an answering machine. Maybe a computer or a home theatre system. A refrigerator and an oven. Every one powered by electricity. Every one vulnerable to a power surge.

Sycom Surge Diverter is also on duty inside your home to provide additional protection for your most sensitive - and most valuable - electronics. Each surge interceptor can be matched to the equipment and the pathway you need to protect. Just plug it in - from standard three-prong plugs to telephone lines; from coaxial cables to computer modems.

Is your home properly grounded? We'll make sure.
Even the best and most expensive surge protection equipment won't work if your home isn't properly grounded. As part of our installation service, we'll inspect your home to be sure your service meter is properly grounded - and if it isn't, we'll help you see that it is.

We also give you an easy-to-use wall outlet tester that will quickly tell you if your internal wiring is correct. If it is not, we'll make recommendations for needed improvements.
